Recognizing those WLHS XC runners who have the guts to leave it on the course! Athletes receive a ‘Mean Green’ t-shirt from the XC coaches for their accomplishments.
The WLXC coaches recognized two runners who recorded ”career firsts” on a difficult Lake Oswego course. Junior captain Tim Donnelly delivered his first varsity victory with a time of 17:09. Tim finished ahead of Ian Walch of Tigard who just a week ago won West Linn’s home meet. Leah Henningsen, a freshman, scored her first varsity points with a 18 second PR. Her 22:00 time helped West Linn win the meet and victory over host Lake Oswego.
Congrats to the Boyd-Helms for being recognized with Mean Greens for their efforts at West Linn’s home meet. Junior Zach Boyd-Helm outsprinted a McMinnville and two Tigard runners in the last 100m to place 4th overall in 17:05. Zach’s placement ensured the Lion’s victory over a very good Tigard team. Freshman Julia Boyd-Helm continues to impress the coaches. Julia’s 9th place finish doesn’t tell the whole story. Her 21:21.9 time was a 42 second PR on a difficult 5000m course.
For the Tualatin Invite, the coaches recognized junior Chelsea Ollar who lead the Lady Lions for the second consecutive meet, placing 6th overall with a time of 20:26. For the boys, junior captain Graham Frank’s effort lowered his personal best of 17:59.8 down to 17:13.0. Graham helped make it five Lions in the top eight. The ten West Linn ladies stuck together for the majority of the race; placing nine in the following sixteen places after Chelsea.

For the Wilsonville Night Meet, the coaches recognized sophomore Ellie Clow for the girls and Taylor West, junior, for the boys. Both set huge PRs at 3000 meters, Ellie by 48 seconds and Taylor by 19 seconds. Taylor’s last minute sprint almost stole the victory from Daniel Winn of Cleveland. Ellie was the highest West Linn finisher in the sophomore class race.
